The inaugural Cup ran a 12-club group stage. The format below was adopted for 26-27 to fit the expanded 20-club Premier League.
Competition Regulations

The standing format of the Monster Energy Mango Loco Cup, in effect from the 26-27 season onward.

01 Aggregate Qualifying Stage

The competition opens with an Aggregate Qualifying Stage across three randomly drawn Premier League matchweeks. All drawings are anticipated to be carried live on YouTube.

Every club's fantasy score from those three weeks is added together to produce the official Cup standings. There are no head-to-head fixtures at this stage — the whole division is ranked on one aggregate total.

02 Qualification Outcomes

At the conclusion of qualifying, the twenty clubs are separated into three groups:

  • 1st and 2nd — earn a bye directly to the Quarterfinals.
  • 3rd through 14th — advance to the Preliminary Knockout Round.
  • 15th through 20th — eliminated from the competition, and encouraged to focus on the league, rebuild, and answer difficult questions from supporters.
03 Preliminary Knockout Round

Seeds 3–14 are divided into two pots:

  • Pot A — seeds 3 through 8.
  • Pot B — seeds 9 through 14.

Each Pot A club is randomly drawn against a Pot B club. This strikes a deliberate balance between the more American seeding method and the more chaotic, randomly drawn English cup competitions. The six winners advance to the Quarterfinals.

04 Quarterfinals

Seeds #1 and #2 now enter the competition.

As reward for their performances during aggregate qualifying, #1 and #2 are randomly drawn their Quarterfinal opponents first, from among the six Preliminary Round survivors. Once those selections have been made, the remaining four clubs are randomly paired.

Eight clubs. Four matches.

05 Semifinals

The four Quarterfinal winners enter a completely random draw. No seeding, no protection, no reward for the road already travelled.

06 The Final

The Monster Energy Mango Loco Cup Final is contested over two legs, with the winner determined by aggregate fantasy score across the two matchweeks.

The winner is crowned Monster Energy Mango Loco Cup Champion and receives all associated prestige.
