A Debut & Top 4 Finish

Elgin's debut season was not supposed to look like this. They were only eighth after Gameweek 7, but that early position became a footnote as the season went on — week by week they hardened into one of the league's most dangerous sides, climbing into the top four, then second, close enough to the summit that the title race briefly felt like it might belong to them. Their late-season surge ripped through contenders, hammering the BGulls, destroying West Adams, and obliterating Chickn Tikka MoSalah in a #2 vs. #1 showdown. A loss that snapped their seven-match winning streak and a late defeat to NELA left them just short of the trophy, but finishing second in a debut campaign is a massive statement.

Sophomore Season Falls Short

Elgin's second season began like a nightmare, transformed into a title charge, and ended as one of the league's great collapses. They opened bottom, winless, and desperate for signs of life — then Woltemade and Iwobi sparked a winning streak that carried them into the league lead around Gameweek 21 after a sixth straight win over West Adams. But the same season that gave Elgin a mountaintop gave them the cliff: four straight losses cost them the Top 4, and they were beaten by SHRKFRS in Gameweek 37 before ending with a Watkins brace against Joe Lewis. Elgin had the form to dream of a title and the fall to wonder how it vanished. The margins were just as tight in the new Monster Energy Mango Loco Cup, where Elgin fell 52-51 to NELA in the quarterfinals.

Outlook

What Lies Ahead

Elgin are already one of the league's strangest franchises: two seasons, huge scoring profile, immediate legitimacy, and now a major question mark. All-time they sit at 47-29-0, 141 league points, one top-four finish, and an active-best 42.62 PPG — no club scores at a better all-time rate. They're excellent against Andover, Chickn Tikka MoSalah (9-0, perfect), Sharks, Trey Burton Ernie, West Adams, and Joe Lewis, sit dead even with NELA and Osborn, but hold losing marks against Seagulls, Bramley, and Santa Monica. The scoring is elite; the matchup map is not yet dominant. 26-27 will tell us whether Elgin can survive the business end of a season.
